Bambos’ experience in water related fields spans over 35 years and he has worked on several projects in Europe, Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. He has wide experience in urban water distribution network management, including Non-Revenue Water (NRW) and Water Loss Management with particular application to water audits and data validation; non-revenue water strategies; leakage assessment and control; commercial efficiency; asset management and business coaching. From 1995 to 2012 he was heading the Technical Services of the Water Board of Lemesos, a public water utility in Cyprus, with responsibilities over all technical matters, including planning, operation and maintenance of the water supply system. Since 2012 he is a NRW and Water Utility Governance consultant and has served internationally on senior consultancy assignments with Water Utilities, IFIs and Water Associations.
Bambos has published numerous papers and books on issues related to Non-Revenue Water and the management of urban water supplies and has participated in many research projects, conferences, seminars workshops and debates. He is Past Chair of the International Water Association's (IWA) Water Loss Specilalist Group and of the Intermittent Water Supply Group. He is currently a member of the IWA Strategic Council.
Bambos holds a BSc degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the UK Engineering Council, a Corporate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), a Fellow of the Institution of Water and Environmental Management (UK), a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (UK) and a Fellow of the International Water Association.

Katerina received a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering in 2009 and a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering in 2010. From 2010 to 2017 she worked as a research assistant at the Cyprus Institute’s Water and Natural Resources Group on European and Cypriot national projects relating to water management, climate change, conflicted areas, human security, social awareness, soil erosion, agricultural water use and advanced irrigation technologies.
In 2018 she completed her PhD studies in Energy, Environment and Atmospheric sciences, focusing on stormwater management in semi-arid urban environments. Her PhD research involved a multidisciplinary approach addressing societal and technological aspects of integrated stormwater management such as policy and governance, public engagement and application of green infrastructure at the household-level.
Katerina is one of the founding members of the Cyprus Water association and an active member of the International Water Association.

Aristides has over 34 years of wide experience in the design and supervision of construction of civil engineering projects in the fields of water supply. He has considerable experience in urban water distribution network management, including Non-Revenue Water (NRW) and Water Loss Management with particular application to water audits, metering, leakage assessment and control, pressure management and network rehabilitation and improvement.
Aristides has extensive involvement in the operation and maintenance of water reticulation systems having spent over 30 years at the Water Board of Larnaka, Cyprus, heading the Technical Services. He was actively engaged in the daily operations as well as the numerous improvement projects over the years, such as the construction of storage reservoirs and pipelines, the application of water loss reduction strategies including pressure reduction and control, leakage detection, metering replacement program.
Aristides holds a Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering as well as a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. He is an active member of the Water Loss Specialist Group of the International water Association.
Manfred A. Lange received a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Kiel, Germany in 1980. After a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Californian Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, USA, he held a position as staff scientist/glaciologist at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany. He was the Director of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland (1992-1995) and a Professor in Geophysics at the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany (1995-2007). He also held the position of Director of the University of Münster’s Center for Environmental Research (1998-2007).
Manfred is and has been a coordinator of numerous projects of the European Union, the European Science Foundation and of nationally funded research projects in Germany, Finland and Cyprus. From September 2007 until September 2015 he served as (the founding) Director of the Energy, Environment and Water Research Center (EEWRC) of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) in Nicosia, Cyprus. He also served as the acting Vice President for Research (April 2013 to October 2015) and as Acting Director of the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (May 2015 to September 2017) at CyI. He continues to serve as full Professor at EEWRC.
He is currently the Director of the Future Earth MENA Regional Center, as well as the Director of the MENA Regional Nodal Offices for the Global Land Programme. His main research interests include the assessment of climate change impacts with a focus on water- and energy security, renewable energy sources and energy- and water use efficiency in the built environment.
Jan has over 35 years of professional experience in the water and sanitation sector, and in projects carried out for many international finance institutions, including the World Bank (WBG), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and local entities (governments, public or private operators). Jan retired in 2008 from the World Bank, with over 15 years of project experience, as Team Leader and Lead Specialist, and Water Program Management at the World Bank Institute.
His main areas of expertise are strategic advice and capacity building on water sector institutional reform, water utility development, change management and public-private partnerships (PPPs) in water infrastructure including PPP options analyses and performance-based contract (PBC) design. He has worked in Sub-Sahara Africa, Northern Africa & Middle East, Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and Asia Regions. He has lectured and presented papers at nearly 135 international events worldwide.
Jan is a Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA) and Honorary Member of the African Water Association (AfWA). He holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (Ghent University), and in Environmental Water Resources Management (Brussels University). He also holds an MBA of the Vlerick Gent-Leuven Business School and is an Alumnus of IMD Lausanne.
